State & Canada rules

Which jurisdictions LoadLegit checks natively, and how units work.

United States

• US-FED — federal limits (20,000 lb single, 34,000 lb tandem, 80,000 lb gross) plus the bridge formula.
• Verified states — TX, CA, FL, IL, PA layer state specifics on the federal baseline. California adds the 40-ft KPRA check.

Other states currently render the federal baseline until their specific law is verified — several diverge sharply (Michigan permits up to 164,000 lb GVW), so we don't publish state figures until confirmed against the official source.

Canada

• CA-MOU — the interprovincial MOU: steer 5,500 kg, tandem 17,000 kg, 5-axle GVW 39,500 kg; tridem (6-axle) bands 21/23/24 t. No bridge formula.
• Provinces — CA-ON, CA-QC, CA-AB, CA-BC add non-blocking advisories (Quebec thaw, Ontario SPIF, BC engine-power) on the MOU baseline.

Units

Every check accepts imperial (lb / in) or metric (kg / m). The engine works internally in imperial and converts at the boundary, so a metric check returns kg mirrors (gvw_kg, axle loads in kg, slide in metres).
